The owners of sixteen Domino’s franchises in the Netherlands are offering employees the option to have part of their wages paid in Bitcoin.
The move was designed to engage workers, mostly students, in learning more about the financial market.
According to the specialist site The Block, the Dutch company announced the move on the 22nd of May, a day known as ‘Bitcoin Pizza Day’ as it was on this date in 2010 that Bitcoin was first used to complete a purchase. At the time, 10,000 Bitcoins (BTC) were needed to buy two pizzas at the US chain Papa John’s. Today, the same number of Bitcoins buys a lot more pizzas, being value at over US$ 300 million.
