According to this year’s Forbes’ billionaires list, the founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, is the richest crypto-man in the world, with assets valued at US$ 65 billion, followed by Sam Bankman-Fried (FTX) and Brian Armstrong (Coinbase).
Perhaps reflecting the recent boom in a sector worth over US$ 2 trillion, Forbes calculated that there are seven more crypto-related billionaires in the world, bringing the total to nineteen. Amongst the newcomers are the founders of Web3 infrastructure company Alchemy and the founders of NFT marketplace OpenSea. The list also includes twin brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who became famous for their dispute with Mark Zuckerberg, over their role in the setting up of Facebook during their time as students at Harvard. Their US$ 65 million settlement with Zuckerberg may have helped finance their investments in bitcoin and other cryptos which helped Forbes value their fortune at US$ 4 billion each.
"I have no doubt that we will see the number of digital asset and Web3 entrepreneurs on lists such as Forbes’ growing considerably over the next few years, just like we saw the founders of internet and tech giants like Google, Facebook (now Meta), eBay and many others shooting up the rankings as their businesses moved mainstream."
Said the founder and CEO of Dynasty Global, Eduardo Carvalho.
